Browser script execution via unescaped form action
Published May 29, 2024 · Updated Mar 17, 2025
Reflected XSS in HAWKI before commit 146967f allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in a victim's browser through a crafted URL. The LDAP login.php form inserts $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] into its action attribute without output encoding, so an attacker-controlled request path breaks into HTML and script context. No account is required, but LDAP authentication must be enabled and a victim must open the link; the issue is exploitable with Apache2's default configuration.
