CVE-2024-25939

System crash via inconsistent mirrored regions

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024

Mirrored-region inconsistency in Intel 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable Processors allows local users with high privileges to crash the system. The processor architecture fails to keep mirrored regions synchronized, so copies can hold different values; Intel has not identified the regions or trigger. Exploitation requires high privileges and local access, and the reported consequence has no confidentiality or integrity impact.
