Browser script execution via unfiltered search results
Published Mar 2, 2024 · Updated Mar 28, 2025
Cross-site scripting in hexo-theme-anzhiyu 1.6.12 allows remote attackers to run script in a visitor's browser through Algolia search. The Algolia search code reflects the search term into the results area without filtering, causing HTML event-handler markup to be interpreted rather than displayed as text. Algolia search must be enabled, and user interaction is required; resulting script executes within the affected site's browser origin.
