CVE-2024-25738Network attack vector

Remote code execution via configuration overwrite

Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

SSRF in VuFind 2.0 through 9.1 allows remote attackers to overwrite local configuration files through the /Upgrade/FixConfig route. The route retrieves an attacker-controlled remote configuration source and writes its content into local configuration files without adequately restricting the request. Exploitation requires an exposed /Upgrade route and PHP allow_url_include enabled; the overwrite grants administrator-panel access and remote code execution.
