Internal service access and XSS via unrestricted proxy
Published May 22, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
SSRF in VuFind 2.4 through 9.1 allows remote attackers to access internal HTTP services through the Cover/Show proxy route. CoverController.php showAction fetched every nonempty proxy parameter without a hostname allowlist and relayed responses without restricting them to safe image MIME types. Network access to the route is sufficient to reach internal HTTP resources or serve attacker-controlled active content from the VuFind origin.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
