Browser script execution via unsanitized saved location
Published Apr 4, 2024 · Updated Feb 6, 2026
Stored XSS in Esri Portal for ArcGIS 11.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser via a saved link. The move-item dialog accepts a crafted new-location link from an anonymous user and stores it without neutralizing executable browser content. A victim must open or render the saved location; successful exploitation runs script in the portal origin and can read or alter browser-accessible portal data.
