CVE-2024-25639Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Client-side script execution via unsanitized chat rendering

Published Jul 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Khoj before 1.13.0 allows attackers to execute script in a user's client through adversarial content. The Desktop, Obsidian, and Web chat renderers convert user or model-generated Markdown to HTML and insert it into the DOM without sanitizing script-capable elements. Triggering requires a user to index a malicious document, submit crafted chat input, or invoke /online on adversarial web content; resulting script can expose desktop-app secrets or hang the client, while Obsidian execution remains sandboxed.
