CVE-2024-2551Network attack vector

Service interruption via crafted data-plane packet

Published Nov 14, 2024 · Updated Nov 19, 2024

Null pointer dereference in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS allows remote attackers to stop a core firewall service through the data plane. A crafted packet reaches the data plane and causes a core service to dereference a null pointer; Palo Alto Networks has not named the service or packet field. No authentication or special configuration is required, and repeated packets force the firewall into maintenance mode.
