Authenticated memory corruption via unchecked password copy
Published Mar 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC18 firmware 15.03.05.05 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt process memory via HTTP. R7WebsSecurityHandler reads the password cookie for /goform/execCommand and copies it with strcpy into the fixed 128-byte v35 stack buffer without a length check. A valid low-privilege session is required; the public proof of concept triggers the overwrite, but post-overflow code execution is not demonstrated.
