Authenticated code execution via language-file overwrite

Published Feb 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 28, 2024

Code injection in Phoenix Cart CE Phoenix 1.0.8.20 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary PHP code through the admin panel. The define_language.php editor writes the file_contents parameter directly into english.php, which the storefront later loads as PHP. An administrative account and network access to the editor are required; successful exploitation runs commands with the web-server process's privileges.
