CVE-2024-25394Network attack vector

Memory corruption via unbounded YMODEM file paths

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Buffer overflow in RT-Thread's YMODEM utility through 5.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via crafted file paths. The _rym_send_begin function writes a filename into a fixed transfer buffer with unbounded rt_sprintf, while upload and download handlers can leave DFS_PATH_MAX-byte path arguments unterminated. Reachability requires an enabled YMODEM shell command and control of its file-path argument.
