Contributor-level stored XSS via unsanitized HowTo block attributes
Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Rank Math SEO 1.0.214 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through HowTo block attributes. The HowTo block renderer accepts user-controlled attributes without sufficient input sanitization and emits them into page output without adequate escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and injected script executes in a visitor's browser when the affected page is opened, exposing data or actions available to that session.
