CVE-2024-25354Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application hang via parse regex backtracking

Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025

Regular expression denial of service in domain-suffix 1.0.8 and earlier allows remote attackers to hang applications via crafted parse input. The parse method applies a hostname-matching expression with nested repetition to attacker-controlled text, allowing a long nonmatching string to drive excessive backtracking. Exposure requires an application to pass remotely supplied text to parse; successful exploitation stalls processing and hangs that application.
