Browser script execution via unneutralized stored content
Published Feb 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Bludit 3.15 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in site visitors' browsers. The edit-content.php controller stores script entered through the editor's source-code field and later returns it on the home page without neutralization. Administrator access is required to plant the payload, and a visitor must load the affected page; execution occurs in that visitor's Bludit origin, exposing browser-accessible data and permitting actions available to that visitor.
