Database read and modification via category injection
Published Feb 14, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2025
SQL injection in Simple Expense Tracker App 1.0 allows remote attackers to read or modify database data through the category parameter. The delete_category.php endpoint incorporates the category value into a MySQL query without neutralizing SQL syntax, enabling blind, error-based, stacked, and time-based payloads. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the demonstrated request enumerates the current database while stacked queries permit database modification.
