CVE-2024-25165Public exploit

Crash via out-of-bounds LineText write

Published Feb 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024

Global buffer overflow in SWFTools 0.9.2 allows local users to crash swfc by processing a crafted action-script input. LineText performs an out-of-bounds one-byte write while swf5error handles the malformed script, and AddressSanitizer reports the write at lib/swf5compiler.flex line 346. The demonstrated consequence is an instrumented-process abort; broader memory-corruption impact is not demonstrated, and exploitation requires swfc to process the supplied file.
