CVE-2024-25132Network attack vector

Controller crash via nil InstalledTimestamp dereference

Published Mar 19, 2025 · Updated Jul 23, 2025

A nil dereference in Red Hat OpenShift Hive before 126c7eb43aa55a008b8f0cf594e7bd18086841eb allows remote authenticated users to crash the controller. The hibernation reconciler reads ClusterDeployment.status.installedTimestamp.Time without checking whether installedTimestamp exists while computing hibernateAfter timing. Permission to create ClusterDeployment and ClusterSync resources with the affected field combination is required; the resulting reconciliation loop repeatedly panics and interrupts controller availability.
