CVE-2024-25131Network attack vector

Cluster-admin escalation via YAML template injection

Published Dec 19, 2024 · Updated Jul 23, 2025

Template injection in OpenShift Must Gather Operator before 4997ad93f0238464c626b1b4832d5b695d68517e allows attackers to gain cluster-admin access. The MustGather controller interpolates unsanitized CRD fields into a Job YAML template, letting crafted values alter the Job's Bash command and service account. A standard developer account can trigger the Job, execute commands with its cluster-admin token, and access cluster secrets used to pivot into AWS.
