Script execution via unvalidated Assistant column headings
Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Cross-site scripting in IBM Cognos Analytics 11.2.0 through 11.2.4 and 12.0.0 through 12.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts. Cognos Assistant accepts column headings without properly validating them before including them in browser-rendered output. Successful exploitation requires low-privilege access and user interaction and runs attacker-controlled script in the victim's browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
