CVE-2024-25021

Local arbitrary command execution

Published Feb 22, 2024 · Updated Mar 27, 2025

Process control weakness in IBM AIX 7.3 and VIOS 4.1 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands through the bundled Perl runtime. IBM identifies vulnerable perl.rte levels 5.34.0.0 through 5.34.1.5 but has not disclosed the flawed Perl operation or attacker-controlled input. Access as a non-privileged local user is required, and successful exploitation grants command execution with consequences bounded by the runtime’s effective privileges.
