CVE-2024-24990Network attack vector

Unauthenticated worker crash via HTTP/3 use-after-free

Published Feb 14, 2024 · Updated May 8, 2025

Use-after-free in F5 NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source allows remote attackers to crash worker processes via crafted QUIC sessions. F5 discloses the flaw only as a use-after-free in the HTTP/3 QUIC module and does not identify the object lifetime error or request sequence that triggers it. Exposure requires nginx to be built with ngx_http_v3_module and configured with the quic listen option, which is not enabled by default; exploitation interrupts service by terminating a worker.
