CVE-2024-24981

Privilege escalation via PfrSmiUpdateFw input validation

Published May 16, 2024 · Updated May 14, 2025

Improper input validation in the PfrSmiUpdateFw UEFI driver in Intel Server M50FCP Family allows privileged local users to escalate privileges. Intel identifies the driver but has not published which input bypasses validation or which privileged firmware operation processes it. Local high-privilege access is required; successful exploitation crosses a security boundary and compromises confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
