Memory corruption via unchecked startIP formatting
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC18 15.03.05.05 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via a crafted startIP value. The formSetPPTPServer handler parses startIP with unbounded sscanf fields and passes the resulting values to sprintf in a stack buffer without bounds checking. Access to the PPTP configuration endpoint is required; the overwrite can crash the process or corrupt its return address and redirect control flow.
