CVE-2024-24789Public exploit

Content concealment via truncated ZIP comments

Published Jun 5, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

ZIP parser inconsistency in Go archive/zip before 1.21.11 and 1.22.0-0 through 1.22.3 allows attackers to conceal archive content. NewReader and OpenReader accept an end-of-central-directory record whose declared comment length exceeds the available bytes, then continue backward and select an earlier embedded record. Processing an attacker-supplied ZIP can therefore expose content that other ZIP tools, security products, or reviewers do not see.
