CVE-2024-24785Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Cross-site scripting via incomplete script-context escaping

Published Mar 5, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025

Cross-site scripting in Go standard library html/template before 1.21.8 and 1.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to inject HTML or script content. The jsValEscaper path inserts failed MarshalJSON error text into a JavaScript comment but escapes only closing comment tokens, leaving closing script and opening comment tokens intact. Exploitation requires a containing application to pass attacker-influenced MarshalJSON errors into a script-context template action; injected content is then emitted in the generated page.
