CVE-2024-24781Network attack vector

Communications interruption via Ethernet controller exhaustion

Published Feb 13, 2024 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Uncontrolled resource consumption in affected HIMA safety-controller modules allows remote attackers to interrupt communications via Ethernet traffic. Wire-speed traffic at 1 Gbit/s or 100 Mbit/s on one port exhausts Ethernet-controller resources, triggering an automatic reset after the load stops. No authentication or user action is required; all other communications through that Ethernet controller are interrupted until traffic subsides and reset completes.
