CVE-2024-24770Network attack vector

Username enumeration via recovery response discrepancies

Published Mar 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024

Observable response discrepancies in vantage6 4.2.2 and earlier allow remote attackers to enumerate valid usernames. The /recover/lost and /2fa/lost routes perform account-dependent email and login work, exposing timing differences and a “Failed to login” response when a username exists. No established account is required; disclosure is limited to username validity, enabling targeted follow-on attempts without direct data modification or service interruption.
