Username enumeration via distinct login errors
Published Mar 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Observable response discrepancy in CasaOS-UserService 0.4.4.3 through 0.4.6 allows remote attackers to enumerate usernames. PostUserLogin in route/v1/user.go returns a user-not-found result for an unknown username but a password-invalid result for a known username. The unauthenticated login endpoint exposes only account-name validity, enabling targeted password attacks without granting account access.
