Authenticated stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in David Lingren Media Library Assistant 3.13 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through mla_gallery. The mla_gallery shortcode support code places user-supplied attributes into generated gallery HTML without sufficient sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required; the stored script runs when a user opens the injected page, enabling browser-context data access or actions.
