CVE-2024-24722

Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path

Published Feb 19, 2024 · Updated Mar 25, 2025

Unquoted service paths in 12d Synergy Server and File Replication Server allow local users to execute programs with elevated privileges. Windows tests the shortest matching executable path first because each affected service stores a path containing spaces without enclosing quotes. Exploitation requires local access and write permission in an earlier path location; a planted executable runs with the service account when the service starts.
