Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Mar 20, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Ruben Garcia GamiPress – Button 1.0.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via shortcode attributes. The gamipress_button shortcode places user-supplied attributes into generated button markup without sufficient sanitization and context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access permits persistent script execution in browsers that view an injected page, allowing actions in the affected site’s user context.
