CVE-2024-24576Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command injection via incomplete batch argument escaping

Published Apr 9, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Command injection in Rust before 1.77.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands through untrusted batch-file arguments. The Windows std::process::Command implementation applies incomplete cmd.exe escaping to arguments passed to .bat and .cmd files, letting shell metacharacters alter the command line. Exposure requires an application or dependency to invoke a batch file with attacker-controlled arguments; other platforms and uses are unaffected.
