Account takeover via MIME-confused file upload
Published Feb 1, 2024 · Updated Jun 17, 2025
Stored XSS in Statamic CMS allows remote attackers to steal an administrator's password reset token through a disguised HTML upload. The Forms upload flow accepts a .jpg name, identifies its HTML content, renames it with an .html extension, and performs no validation after that change. Exploitation requires an authorized user to open the stored submission, which executes JavaScript in that user's browser and enables account takeover.
