API authentication bypass via predictable MD5 tokens
Published Jun 24, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper authentication in Bludit 2.0 allows remote attackers to authenticate to its API by brute-forcing predictable tokens. The API initialization and generateAuthToken routines hash uniqid(), the current time, and the site domain with MD5, producing guessable credentials. Exploitation requires an administrator to enable the API, which is disabled by default, and grants access as an API principal.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
