CVE-2024-2451

Privilege escalation via executable fingerprint validation

Published May 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Improper executable fingerprint validation in TeamViewer Remote Full Client and Host before 15.54 allows local users to elevate privileges. The client startup process accepts a replaced program-folder executable without correctly validating its fingerprint, then launches it with elevated rights. Exploitation requires administrator rights to replace the file; successful execution can reach SYSTEM on Windows, while the macOS elevation level is not further specified.
