Account takeover via unverified SAML ownership switch
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper authentication in Mattermost allows remote authenticated users to take over other accounts via crafted SAML switch requests. The authentication-switch flow accepts an email-to-SAML account change without correctly verifying ownership of the account selected by the request. Exploitation requires an existing authenticated account and SAML sign-in to be enabled; success transfers control of another user's account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
