Arbitrary file write via separator filter bypass
Published Feb 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 29, 2024
Path traversal in iBotPeaches Apktool before 2.9.3 on Windows allows attackers to write files outside the decode directory. During APK decoding, resource names determine output paths, but BrutIO.detectPossibleDirectoryTraversal checks Windows paths only for backslash traversal and accepts ../ sequences. A user must decode a crafted APK; the resulting arbitrary file write can overwrite files accessible to that user's process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
