The disputed denial-of-service claim in Wireshark before 4.2.0 alleges that remote attackers can crash analysis with crafted BGP OPEN data. The cited change widens dissect_bgp_open's optlen from 8 to 16 bits so an RFC 9072 extended length cannot wrap and advance the parsing offset incorrectly.
