Code execution via SCSI transfer-length underflow
Published Feb 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024
Buffer overflow in QEMU before 8.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via a crafted SCSI TI command. The esp_do_nodma function copies available FIFO data into the SCSI buffer without first bounding the copy by async_len, so subtracting a larger length wraps the unsigned counter and advances writes beyond the allocated buffer. The attack requires low-privileged access to an emulated ESP-compatible SCSI device and can crash QEMU or execute code in its host process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
