Authenticated post impersonation via unverified action source
Published Apr 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Improper access control in Mattermost Server allows remote authenticated users to create posts as other users through crafted post actions. The post-action handling path accepts certain actions without authenticating their source, then attributes the resulting post to another user. A valid account and a crafted post action are required; the bounded consequence is unauthorized message creation under another user's identity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=8.1.0 <=8.1.10
- Affected versionversion=9.3.0 <=9.3.2
- Affected versionversion=9.4.0 <=9.4.3
