Client crashes via unbounded mention processing
Published Mar 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Mattermost allows remote authenticated users to crash other users' clients with crafted messages. The server processes an unbounded number of @-mentions in one message and distributes the resulting workload to recipient client applications. Affected releases are 8.1.0 through 8.1.9, 9.2.0 through 9.2.5, 9.3.0 through 9.3.1, and 9.4.0 through 9.4.2; a valid account and permission to post are required.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
