MME crash via malformed S1Setup ProtocolIE_ID
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Invalid memory access in HPE Athonet Core 11.0 through 11.6 allows remote attackers to crash the MME through crafted S1Setup requests. The MME mishandles an invalid ProtocolIE_ID while parsing S1AP S1Setup Request messages; the proprietary code's precise faulty operation is undisclosed. No authentication or user interaction is required, but affected 11.2 through 11.6 deployments must have the legacy MME configuration enabled; repeated connections can sustain cellular-network interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
