CVE-2024-24456Network attack vector

Remote MME crash via malformed NAS PDU

Published Mar 31, 2025 · Updated Apr 3, 2025

Buffer overflow in HPE Athonet Core 11.0 through 11.6 allows remote attackers to crash the MME via a malformed E-RAB Release Command NAS PDU. The MME processes the embedded NAS PDU without adequate bounds validation, so malformed length data causes an immediate process crash. No authentication or user interaction is required, but access to the RAN-to-core signaling path and an affected MME configuration is necessary.
