Cellular service interruption via invalid UE identifier
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2025
Invalid memory access in the MME of HPE Athonet Core 11.0 through 11.6 allows remote attackers to interrupt cellular service. The proprietary MME mishandles a UE Context Release message containing an invalid UE identifier, but public sources do not disclose the deeper programmatic cause. Unauthenticated access to the cellular signaling path and repeated crafted connections are required to crash the MME and sustain the network outage.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
