CVE-2024-24450Network attack vector

Service crash via unchecked FailedToSetupList copy

Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 15, 2024

Stack buffer overflow in OpenAirInterface CN5G AMF 2.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the AMF through the N2 interface. The ngap_amf_handle_pdu_session_resource_setup_response handler copies an attacker-controlled transfer into a fixed 512-byte stack buffer without checking its size. Reaching the flaw requires N2 access, typically through a compromised base station or its IPsec network; an AMF crash is demonstrated, while code execution is identified but not demonstrated.
