Service crash via uninitialized optional-field dereference
Published Nov 15, 2024 · Updated Nov 19, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in OpenAirInterface CN5G AMF 2.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the AMF via a crafted NGAP response. InitialContextSetupResponseMsg accepts a response with no information elements, then its handler reads an optional session-resource list that was never initialized. Reachability requires an N2-side NGAP exchange, and successful exploitation interrupts AMF service without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
