AMF service crash via malformed SUCI assertion
Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Jan 23, 2025
Reachable assertion in the Open5GS AMF 2.6.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted NAS packet. The amf_ue_set_suci function passes a malformed mobile identity to ogs_nas_5gs_suci_from_mobile_identity, then asserts that the failed parse returned a SUCI. The packet must reach the RAN-facing AMF path; assertion termination interrupts AMF service before subscriber authentication.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
