Restricted file read and DoS via path traversal
Published Apr 25, 2024 · Updated Nov 20, 2025
Path traversal in GitLab CE/EE allows remote authenticated users to read restricted files and interrupt service through crafted paths. GitLab has not published the affected endpoint, parameter, or faulty path-validation operation. Low-privileged access is required, and the published consequences are limited to restricted file reads and denial of service, with no integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=16.10 <16.10.4
- Affected versionversion=16.11 <16.11.1
- Affected versionversion=16.9 <16.9.6
