Code execution via unchecked path copying
Published Mar 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in RT-Thread through 5.0.2 allows local users to execute code or crash a device via a crafted filesystem path. The dfs_nolink_path() function copies path components and symbolic-link targets into a fixed heap allocation without checking the accumulated index and length. Reachability requires control of a fullpath processed by the DFS v2 filesystem; successful corruption can interrupt the device or execute code in the operating-system context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
