Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode-fetched HTML
Published Jul 12, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in Matteo Enna Website Content in Page or Post before 2024.04.09 allows remote authenticated users to run script in visitors' browsers. The horshipsrectors_get_html_curl shortcode handler fetches attacker-selected HTML and inserts the response into a post without validating or escaping its content. Contributor access is required to save the shortcode, and a visitor must open the post; the injected JavaScript then executes in that visitor's browser.
